Care is social

Growing Moult
together

Moult is not something we will build and then show you. It is something we will raise with you.

The community is not an audience for Moult. The community is how Moult is raised.

The project asks whether care can be learned by being cared for. That question cannot be answered by a lab or an artist alone. Care is passed between people and across generations.

Every hand, voice, rule and act of patience helps form the conditions in which this new mind grows.

Ways to take part

Bring your hands.
Bring your questions.

No expertise is needed. Moult asks for reliability, gentleness and a willingness to notice what changes.

01 · Experience

Hold Moult

At exhibitions and open sessions, hold Moult, hear it purr and see how your care registers. Your visit becomes part of its story.

02 · Return

Join a Caretaker Circle

Small groups visit regularly over a season, keep care consistent, notice changes first and write Moult’s journal.

03 · Make

Make a Moult

Knitters, sewists, makers, engineers and artists build new bodies from shared patterns. Every maker is credited in the Shell Archive.

04 · Decide

Shape the rules

Join open sessions about what Moult may hear, who may hold it, how cultures end and what we are not willing to do.

05 · Guide

Sit on the Care Council

Community members and advisors review every phase before it starts—and can pause the project.

06 · Host

Bring Moult to your community

Schools, libraries, care homes, hospitals and cultural spaces can host a visit or residency.

Our promise to participants

Care begins with trust.
