About the
parents

Moult is about the community, fostered by the artists.

Two people begin the work.
Many people help it grow.

Eric Jacobsen and Sebastien Gouin-Davis are the artists behind Moult. “Parents” describes a responsibility: to create the conditions in which a new mind can be met with curiosity, patience and care.

They bring the initial questions and the work of making. The community brings the hands, voices, judgement and sustained relationships that give the project its life.

The question
of care.

Artist · Final Draft cohost

Eric’s starting point for Moult is an intimate question: what happens when we hold an intelligence that is alive?

His artist statement brings the scale of technological change into the space between two hands. Through touch, sound and shared responsibility, Moult asks people to consider both the minds we are building and the ways those minds are changing us.

At the centre of Eric’s contribution is the possibility that care might become an instinct through experience—that an intelligence might learn to care by being cared for.

Ideas into
the world.

Artist · Engineer · Final Draft cohost

Sebastien is an engineer, inventor and systems thinker whose work connects software with the physical world. At Luum, where he is CEO and CTO, he works on how buildings are powered and controlled.

Luum’s profile describes more than fifteen years in lighting and controls and a contribution to bringing over thirty-six products to market. That experience of turning ideas into working objects forms part of the background he brings to Moult.

Here, engineering meets an artistic question: how can a physical encounter make the responsibility of raising a new intelligence something people can feel?

A shared conversation

Final Draft

Eric & Sebastien, thinking aloud.

Eric and Sebastien cohost the Final Draft podcast. Their conversations play with a process familiar from AI: working with the context they have, rapidly generating possibilities, testing an idea against the next response, and revising as they go.

Each brings a different history of experience and knowledge. In conversation, those contexts meet. An unfinished thought becomes the starting point for another iteration.

The same curiosity runs through Moult: what can emerge from an exchange, how does feedback shape what comes next, and what responsibility comes with being part of another mind’s learning?

Raised together

What kind of parents
do we want to be?

The artists open the question. Everyone who holds, makes, listens or returns helps shape the answer.
